今回は、納涼番外編として「What’s your favorite Horror Work?」をお届け！
音楽家にホラー映画やホラーコミック好きが多いのはよく知られたところですが、今回は国内外の数奇者たちに特別お気に入りのホラー作品を5本づつチョイスしたチャートを寄せていただきました！
いずれも時代やジャンルも超えたマスターピース揃い！ 涼むに良し、熱く盛り上がるに良しの逸品ばかりです！
クラブまでの道中すら嫌になるお盆の夜、映画鑑賞に明け暮れてみてはいかがでしょうか。

1. 悪魔のいけにえ
ジャンルの枠や時代も超えて他の追随を許さないDIY映画の奇跡。特殊効果のゴア描写よりソレを観たと錯覚させる演出こそがやっぱ本質なんだよな。次点として『ハロウィン』(もちろんオリジナル版のほう)を。
2. シャイニング
オッサンが狂う映画がマチガイナイのはほぼ定説だと思うが、代表作として↑を。他、『エコーズ』『アメリカン･サイコ』『フレイルティー』など、♀なら『反撥』『ザ･ブルード』『シリアルママ』あたりどうかな。
3. ゼイリブ
金！金！金！全ては金！生きる為には金がいる！物質的欲求を満たす為に社畜と化し、人生をただスポイルされるだけの消費社会の恐怖は現実問題として常に存在し、恐怖が人を購買に駆り立てる。そんな恐怖を描いた映画はいつだって最高だ。『ゾンビ』『コヤニスカッツィ』『ファイトクラブ』『Wall-e』など、タイプは違うがテーマは同じだろう。
4. マーターズ
『ハイテンション』『屋敷女』 『変態村』『フロンティア』など近年活況のフレンチホラーの断トツの最良作。末期の精神疾患の妄想とも取れる導入から大逆転を遂げるエンディングまで凡百のジャンル映画がたどり着けなかったイコン。
5. アンダー・ザ･スキン
なんだかんだ言っても技術の進歩に従う鮮烈な”痛”描写は分かりやすく痛快だ。『死霊のはらわた』『ラスト･ハウス･オン･ザ･レフト』『蝋人形の館』などのリメイク作も現代的に進化してて楽しい。が、真の意味での進歩を感じさせられたのは↑。説明を排除した質感のみの恐怖にジワる。『ハプニング』、古くは『死よ、万歳』などが同系列か。

1. The Toxic Avenger Part II(悪魔の毒々モンスター 東京へ行く)
いきなりホラーじゃなくてコメディですが…自分にとってはトロマ映画との出会いがホラー映画に繋がっているので、入れてしまいました。見た目は醜いけど正義のヒーローであるメルビンが東京にやってきて安岡力也と戦います。サービス満点のエンターテイメントで楽しい
2. GRINDHOUSE(グラインドハウス)
『プラネットテラー』と『デスプルーフ』の2本立てですが間のフェイクトレイラーも込みでベスト入りにさせてほしいですね！映画館でも2本立上映で観ました。公開前からお祭りノリで盛り上がって楽しかったぁ。
3. PREMUTOS(新ゾンビ)
ゴアゴア描写で知られるオラフイッテンバッハ監督の代表作。この人映画はドイツホラーらしく、登場人物が無表情でつまんなさそうにエグイ事やっていて背徳感を楽しめる体調じゃないと見るのキツいんですがこの映画はゾンビVS戦車のシーンがあったり、ラスボスのキリスト(みたいな邪神)が登場したと思ったらスケボーに滑って転んで爆死するなど比較的テンション高めの展開。鼻くそが回転する映像がみれます。
4. Skinned Deep(バーサーカー)
簡単にいえば悪魔のいけにえタイプの囲われ映画です。ダークヒーローっぽさがカッコいい軍医サージェン、全裸で街を走るブレイン、老人ライダーズ『ウィロー』や『ハリーポッター』シリーズのワーウィック・デイヴィスもゲスな役で登場します。そんな楽しいキャラクターと終始、人を喰ったような展開が…。最後のスタッフロールまで酷い。
5. 『日本のこわい夜 特別篇 本当にあった史上最恐ベスト10』
2005年にTBSで放送された特番。心霊バラエティー番組を模したフェイクドキュメント風ドラマです。なんじゃそら。くりぃむしちゅー司会の番組のレポート中に本物の幽霊が映り込んでしまうっていうのが見せ場なんですが、スタジオでのオチがついた後は急に通常のドラマ調になります。『ホントにあった呪いのビデオ』シリーズを筆頭として常に恐怖演出を試行錯誤をして、色んな見せ方が見れるのがJホラーの真骨頂。安易なびっくらかしじゃなくて、不気味さや笑いを忘れないのがイイ！これは平和なお茶の間のTVに幽霊が飛び込んでしまう怖さですよね。

1. Dawn of the Dead (1978)
小学4年の時、今はなき金沢のルネスかなざわで観て以来不動のNo.1。名作中の名作って言葉じゃ足りない金字塔。
2. Day Of The Dead
オープニングの「ヘロォォォ～！」や、地上のゾンビを基地内にエレベーターで下ろすシーンの青空。
3. Dawn of the Dead (2004)
オリジナルを踏襲しつつも全力疾走ゾンビなど次世代型ゾンビ要素を盛り込んだ奇跡の良リメイク。
4. 呪怨2（ビデオ版）
クオリティでいえばハリウッド版（特に音）なんですが、今作の「おめえも早くあの家処分しないと、、もってかれっぞ！」がとにかくシビれる。
5. ほんとにあった! 呪いのビデオ
日本のオリジナル文化っていうのはこういう事を指すと真剣に思う。

1. Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Something weirdly nostalgic about this movie every time I watch it…I think I used to work at the Monroeville Mall in a past life.
2. Zombie Flesh Eaters (1979)
Pretty much the perfect zombie film and by far one of the greatest soundtracks ever.
3. Return of the Living Dead (1985)
Fun for the whole family zombie apocalypse storytelling and includes the best strip show in a cemetery committed to film.
4. Nightmare City (1980)
Weird, fun and intense Euro vibes on this one. Very re-watchable and also another killer soundtrack.
5. Saga of the Swamp Thing (1987)

“American gothic” masterpiece by Alan Moore. So good on so many levels in Moore’s psychedelic storytelling.

This must be one of the toughest questions! Horror plays a big part when I make tracks as Deformer. I also possess a huge collection of VHS tapes and dvd’s. Also doing projects with some of the pioneers in the genre like Charles Band is a dream come true. My top 5 turned out pretty decent I guess containing classics even though I usually prefer the more obscure stuff. And when it comes to Deformer, the best samples come from the most dubious movies…
1. Nosferatu (1922)
I’m not a great vampire fan, but to me this is a masterpiece, where most
vampire flicks suck in the broadest sense of the word.
2. The Evil Dead (1981)
This to me was a huge inspiration back in the days. It also captures a lot
of elements that I like: gore, humor and craftsmanship on a low budget.
3. Alien (1979)
When I first saw this movie I just felt cold. The eeriness and loneliness in space is totally captured in this one. I also love the soundtrack.
4. The Twilight Zone (1959)
The original series still blow my mind. I can’t comprehend how influential this is on modern society.
5. Misery (1990)
This can be filed under thriller maybe, but it’s a pretty horrific thriller
I feel pretty uneasy knowing that I didn’t mention some of my other all time favourite Horror flicks haha, but hey, a top 5 is a top 5 🙂

1. Shock Waves (1977)
Amazing 70s nazi zombie flick. Richard Einhorn’s dark and menacing soundtrack is probably one of my all time favourite horror soundtracks sadly it was never released in any form..
2. Dead Kids (1981)
aka Strange Behavious aka Small Town Massacre. A scientist is practising brainwashing experiments on teenagers that make them change into half dead murderers. Great atmosphere, lot’s of weirdness and a beautiful soundtrack by Tangerine Dream (and sadly never released officially)
3. Street Trash (1987)
A movie about an alcoholic drink that causes its consumers to melt and explode. Multi coloured goo a gogo!! A must see!!
4. Halloween III (1982)
This is probably blasphemy to a lot of horror freaks but Halloween III is my favourite of the Halloween franchise. Just love this movie!!!
5. Evilspeak (1981)
bullied teenager summons demons with his computer to take revenge on his bullies it’s as awesome as it sounds for sure!! “Remember that little kid you used to pick on? Well he’s a big boy now”
Shall I make a non vhs/movie horror top 5 as well? I can easily make a top 100 of horror movies lol
